SanDisk Extreme Portable External SSD - SDSSDE61-2T00-G25

The SanDisk Extreme Portable External SSD (SDSSDE61-2T00-G25) is an excellent drive. It has served me well over the last coulpe years or so. If you want to buy a similar drive you should probably make sure you get the latest version at the time because it has probably been improved for better speed. I know the model that I bought was an improved ( faster ) version of the same drive that had come out shortly before. Basically just make sure you aren’t buying an older version of the drive ( unless you are saving a ton of money on it ).

I’m using this drive as supplemental storage for my MacBook Pro. I’ve formatted it exclusively for use on Macs. As far as I can tell it fundtions just about as well as the internal drive. It is fast to tranfer files to / from. It also works great editing video files that are stored directly on this external drive.

When I purchased my MacBook, I bought it with a very small hard drive ( 512G ). I figured that since I would be copying all of my finished work off on to my NAS that it wouldn’t matter anyway. As it turns out though, 512G can be eaten up really quickly and doesn’t provide enough room to work with. This is especially true when you have things like photo albums being synced to the hard disk. I’m constantly importing and exporting tons of large video files and my drive fills up really quickly. I’ve spent way too much time juggling things aroud. This drive has saved me a lot of trouble with that.
