Ender 3 Pro - 3D Printer
The Ender 3 Pro is an extremely popular 3D printer. It is very functional and offered at a reasonable price. There are currently newer, improved models availble from Ender but I specifically purchased this printer because I specifically wanted to perform as many upgrades as possible. Some of the newer models come pre-upgraded. There are also models from other brands that provide more functionality and look like they would probably be a better value. I selected this model because I wanted to prioritize reviewing a printer that more people are interested in. At somepoint I’ll be covering a ton of other alternate, competing printers as well. I’ve found tinkering around with the firmware to be a bit tedious but overall not unmanageable. I’ve had to tweak settings here and there to get my prints to come out OK. I’ve worked with PLA and ABS so far. One thing to note about this printer is that it supports stopping and resuming a print. I tested this with one of my first few prints and it worked really well. I stopped the print, ordered more filament, waited for the filament to arrive in the mail, and then resumed printing with no problem at all. This also allows for switching the filament color halfway through the print.
Key points:
- Very popular
- Affordable
- Very upgradable
- Newer, improved Ender models are available
- Other brands also have potentially better printers available
- Stop and resume pringing worked really well
Upgrades I’ve done so far ( see videos listed below ):
- Auto Bed Leveling Probe - CR Touch ( IMPORTANT - BEST UPGRADE EVER )
- Glass Bed Upgrade
- LCD upgrade ( failed )

This is a kind of longer video of me assembling the printer.
Ender 3 Pro - Auto Bed Leveling Probe - CR Touch - Upgrade
This is a video covering the auto bed leveling probe ( CR Touch ). This is probably the single most useful upgrade that you could install on this 3D printer. This saves a lot of trouble and manually effort. It makes printing things so much easier and helps to avoid issues printing. It also looks pretty cool but that isn’t why you install this.
Ender 3 Pro - Glass Bed Upgrade
This was a pretty good upgrade. It isn’t flexibly or easily removable like the glass bed but it is nice and smooth. I kind of prefer it. I haven’t done a ton of side by side testing to see if it actually improves print quality but it might.
Ender 3 Pro LCD upgrade - FAIL
This upgrade was a failure but might be interesting to watch. I purchased the wrong screen because I didn’t read carefully. I meant to purchase a touch screen upgrade but this was just a regular LCD that happened to be slightly bigger than the default LCD. The key take away here is that I need to pay better attention to what I’m doing. I attempted to install it anyway. I had issues with ( I think ) firmware and probably some other things and ended up switching back to the original LCD.
