Proxmox Install on a Mac Mini - A1347
I purchased a few somewhat older Intel based Mac mini’s on eBay. These are terrific, affordable, and great for projects. I installed Proxmox on two of these Macs and VMWare ESXi on the other two. These make great lab hosts for smaller work loads as they are small, have a reasonable amount of power, and pretty neat. The were compatible with both Proxmox and ESXi as well as different Linux distros including Ubuntu. They make great, tiny servers that can be tucked away in a closet.
Overall I would recommend both Proxmox and Mac Minis. There are other nice virtualization solutions available. There are also comperable used hardware solutions available on eBay. You could purchase an Intel Nuc or an HP EliteDesk Mini PC. Used server hardware is also a great option if you have the pace to store them.
