HP Pavilion Laptop Trash Pick Teardown
This is a laptop that I litterally picked out of the trash ( thrown out on the sidewalk ). It was still able to be powered on and was able to boot into the OS without a password. This is why you should really wipe your system and ideally destroy your hard drive before throwing away any computer.
I basically took appart just about every component that I could and it is now sitting in a box in my closet for a potential future project. I’ll see what I can come up with for that.
Watch the Video here:
That video was just over an hour long because I didn’t speed it up at all. In hindsight this was probably a mistake. If you like watching things being disassembled with background music you might want to grab some popcorn and a drink so you can sit back and relax while watching me take this thing appart. I love taking things appart and I can’t resist picking up old things like this just so I can disassemble them and potentially even repurpose them.
If you are interested in the tool kit that I used you can check that out here: iFixit Mako Driver Kit - Tweezers - Prying Tools. I did a very short write up on the kit and also recorded another video reviewing the kit. I would totally recommend this kit. There are other great kits out there that I’ve bought but I’m happy with this one and feel like I could still recommend it. It is definitely worth having a kit like this.
