ThinkPad X230 from eBay with Kali Linux

I purchased an old ThinkPad x230 Laptop from eBay and installed Kail linux on it for testing purposes. The laptop didn’t come with a hard drive of any type so I installed a spare SSD. This was a standard SATA SSD that you would normally install in a desktop PC. It worked fine but took a tiny bit of extra effort to fit neatly inside the laptop. This isn’t the only time I’ve installed an SSD in a laptop and often times it can be a tricky fit depending on how the laptop is on the inside. In generally, upgrading to an SSD is one of the best upgrades that you can perform on an old computer. Installing an SSD when you don’t have a hard drive to begin with is even better. You can find really great deals on eBay on laptops that don’t include a hard disk. So long as you don’t mind installing a disk and a fresh copy of an OS, this is the way to go. Really, you should be installing a fresh OS on any used computer purchased off of eBay. This would be for security purposes, for control, and just to have something freshly installed.

This was a pretty terrific system and an neat project. ThinkPads are really popular especially within the Linux community. Personally, I like using old Apple laptops from eBay but this is a little bit controversial as a lot of people in the Linux community tend to love ThinkPads and hate anything Apple. At the end of the day, we have a lot of really great options available so just pick what works for you .
