Adeept RaspTank - Raspberry Pi Robot with Tracks and Robotic Arm
The Adeept RaspTank is a pretty neat robot kit that works with a Raspberry Pi.
- Raspberry Pi not included
- Batteries not included
Overall this robot was pretty cool. I liked it a lot. I did have some issues listed below. I haven’t actually used this robot much since recording the second video. I do 100% plan on coming back to this to do more testing and probably fix the problems listed below. I would like to come up with a better battery solution and probably re-write or replace the control software.
I feel like I had fewer problems with this robot when compared to the robot dog because the robot dog had legs which were hard to move with the relatively weak motors that were included. The tank is based on tracks. It uses similar ( identical? ) motors but they don’t don’t pose a problem since all it has to do is rotate the tracks. It does have an arm that moves aroudn and grabs things ( which works great ) but that doesn’t put much strain on the motors.
Problems:
- Kept loosing connectivity
- Battery kept running out really quickly
- No way to know why it stops resoponding
- Battery status doesn’t seem accurate
- Software could be better ( probably easy to re-write )
This is the video in which I assemble and demo the robot:
This is just the unboxing video:
